This report analyzes the evolution of the context for migration in Tunisia and in the region more generally before and since the revolution of 2011. The arrival of thousands of Tunisian migrants on the Italian island of Lampedusa in the days and weeks which followed the fall of the Ben Ali regime raised many questions. Not least there is the problem of what factors pushed so many young Tunisians to leave the country where they had fought for reforms.
