About the company

The company Aero-Nautic Services & Engineering was founded in 2010 with the participation of a Vice Admiral of the French Navy and is specialised in the production of so-called aerostats - balloons or zeppelins equipped with communication and surveillance technology - which it manufactures in Castellet. Such aerostats have been used for some time to protect field camps in contested areas such as Mali and Afghanistan because they can stay in the air for a very long time and thus guarantee a long sensor range. The company counts French companies and authorities operating in the Middle East among its customers and made early efforts to export its surveillance platforms to the Sahel region, especially Niger.

Contribution to the EU border regime

In the context of the Frontex operation Poseidon, the European border protection agency tested the use of aerostats for the first time using a model from A-NSE. In the meantime, Frontex uses aerostats from other suppliers. A-NSE lists "maritime security" and agriculture, among others, as civilian fields of application; in the "Security & Defence" business field, surveillance of borders, infrastructure, major events and "safe cities".
