About the company

The PIAP (Przemysłowy Instytut Automatyki i Pomiarów), Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements) is categorized by the EU Commission as a "research organization", but it also manufactures products serially, especially robotics and market them globally. Under the URL "antiterrorism.eu" used solely by PIAP, it praises its products for the police and military and lists Pakistan, Belarus, China and other as customers.

Contribution to the EU border regime

In Poland and Romania, the armed forces use robots from PIAP. This includes reconnaissance and patrol robots for different terrains and armed robots. From 2008 to 2012, PIAP led the EU research project TALOS, which was intended to test the use of unmanned land systems to prevent illegal migration at the borders (Aselsan and IAI were among those involved). In addition, PIAP was involved in the C2-SENSE project (led by Safran and with involvement from AIT) to improve the compatibility of command and communication systems from different authorities. PIAP also received almost half a million euros for its participation in the research project ASSISTANCE under the direction of the Politechnical University of Valencia and the participation of Thales, among others. The aim here was to explore the use of mixed and augmented reality for task forces.
