About the company
DJI is a company founded in 2006 and headquartered in Shenzhen, China, which produces numerous drones for public, industrial and also private use. Especially in the field of relatively light and inexpensive quatrocopters (small drones with four rotors), it is probably the world market leader. Drones from DJI are also used by European military and police forces. In addition to drones, DJI also offers the "educational robot" RoboMaster S1, which is intended to offer children an introduction to robotics, programming and AI - and has a small cannon with which "gel pellets" can be fired.
Contribution to the EU border regime
At the Slovenian-Austrian border, both sides apparently use DJI drones of the type "Matrice" as well as "Phantom 4". On the occasion of a corresponding joint exercise in October 2020, the Austrian Minister of the Interior had announced: "In addition to an increased deployment of personnel - an additional 1,300 police officers and soldiers will be deployed for border security and border surveillance - police drones will also be used for border security and border surveillance in the future."
