About the company
King ICT is one of the most important Croatian system houses. For a while, it belonged to the Croatian "MAN S" group, which has a total of around 1,500 employees (as of November 2020). King's portfolio is broad and ranges from digital classrooms to cloud and (HR) management services for companies, to traffic monitoring in cities ? for example in Zagreb, where the company is based. King ICT has other branches in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Kosovo, Serbia and North Macedonia and is trying to establish itself as a leading service provider for authorities in the entire region. It also aggressively promotes the increasing use of artificial intelligence in the surveillance of public spaces.
Contribution to the EU border regime
King ICT is expanding the databases and infrastructure on the basis of which the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina create identity documents. The corresponding contract with the "Agency for Identification Documents, Registers and Data Exchange of BiH" was negotiated by the local EU delegation (quasi the EU embassy in BiH) and financed by the EU with 856,000 Euros. According to information from the Border Violence Monitoring Network, the Croatian Ministry of the Interior order smaller drones for border protection from King ICT worth around 40,000 Euros between December 2017 and April 2018. In 2019, larger drones (Planet IX - eRIS III) worth 2.4 million euros were ordered, which King ICT manufactures and presumably also operates together with Ericsson. Ericsson Nikola Tesla is a Croatian public company that also functions as the Croatian branch of the Swedish telecommunications giant Ericsson.
